Have not tuned one on a 4 cyl, but a carb is a carb. Q-jet tuning will be the same

2Xs with AD. However unless you have a way of measuring o2 then changing jets, rods and the power valve spring will be a shot in the dark.
The main thing is that the engine is in good condition and the boat has the correct propeller and the secondary air valve is opening all the way a WOT.
And of course the carburetor is clean Internally and the fuel delivery from tank to carburetor has no restrictions.

Thanks. I might be over thinking it, waiting on my kit to arrive for the carburetor to reassemble and gasket kit for the motor. Bottom end is back together. Did a modification to the cam where water seals are that will will probably out last the cam. But I guess from what you’re saying Kenny is after initial tune once I get in the water I’ll have to fine tune more? I still have to find out the correct prop.

Just make sure the timing is set and it also would be a good time to convert to a Petronics ignition. Depending on how you are going to use the boat can determine the best propeller. The main thing is you want to get the max rated rpm.
Is the hull in good condition and not water logged and how solid is the transom?

Definitely planning on electronic ignition upgrade. Purchased the boat back in 2015 not knowing how bad it was but over the last few years gutted and rebuilt all stringers bulkhead transom deck went maybe overboard ended up using approximately 15gallons of lay up resin. The hull is in great shape there are a few small chips in the gel coat other than that no cracks or anything
