I fired up the boat this year.. and found antifreeze leaking out of the water intake holes on the outdrive... whats the problem? whats the solution? I'm guessing the heat exchanger needs replaced.

Step #1
Pressure test the holding tank - just like an auto radiator - about 15 lbs. and listen for the leak. And watch for a drip. You may need a stethoscope.
Detailed information and history helps.

Before you panic...is this the residual from winterization? If not head toward the heat exchanger, drain, remove end caps and inspect for leaking...could be corroded internal parts.

THE END CAP ON HEAT EXCHANGER WAS BOWED OUT, AND ALL ANTIFREEZE WAS GONE..., I REVERSED THIS END CAP, AND TIGHTENED UP. THERE IS A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF ANTIFREEZE LEAKING FROM OUT DRIVE WATER INTAKE... BUT NO WHERE ELSE.

Is this engine antifreeze or winterizing antifreeze?
Sounds like it wasn't winterized so my guess is that the heatexchanger froze so hard that it ruptured the cooling system tubes inside of it.

Drain the heat exchanger next yesr ,it only takes a few minutes.
Good Luck

Pan,Is this leak with the motor not running?Best thing is to remove that end plate, hammer it flat, reassemble with a new rubber gasket.Do the other end plate also.If leak still continues, probably internal cracks in the heat exchanger.
DHP
