3/8" Fuel Lines, 1/4" Separator Input

I am trying not to make a mess of installing a fuel/water separator, but do I need to do about the size of the fuel lines? Out of the tank I have a 3/8" fuel line. The 3/8" line feeds a 1/4" line that starts right before the motor at the priming bulb (Yamaha F150 4 stroke). Do I need a 3/8" line from the tank? Or is running all 1/4" from start to finish acceptible?

3/8 all the the way. Tank, to filter, to motor
