3 beeps when key turned to on position

I have a 1996 Nitro savage 884 with mercury 150 xr6 2 stroke motor. When I turn the key to the on position, even before starting it up, I get 3 quick beep beep beep sounds. What does that indicate? I usually just ignore it and start it up and it would start up fine. It just bugs me when I get that noise before starting it cold. What does it mean?

That Beep you here is a very important Beeps
1, it tells you your computer is up and working
2. it inspected your alarm circuits .
3 You can now turn switch to start !!

Without the beeps -- how can you tell if the power is there to even start the motor !!
