3 HP 1992 Mercury won't start, dipped in Ocean

My sail boat overturned and dunk my 3 Hp mercury about 4-5 years ago. I immediatly flushed the engine with fresh water, but could not get it to start. I have been busy and am justing getting to fix it. the compression is about 30 lbs when I pull the starter slowly for a few engine cycles. I goes to 60 -75 lbs when I pull it quickly once and to 120 lbs when I pull it many times. I am also not getting a spark. The inside of the spark plug connector is rusted so that may be part of the spark problem.<br /><br />Thanks for any help that you can give to me.<br /><br />Don

Drinkwater,When I sunk my johnson 85 hp,I had to replace all the electrical componants due to corrosion,saltwater kills electrical parts! Bill
