Hello,
I have a 2003 30hp Mercury EFI. I notice that if I throttle back from top speed to idle, the motor slows down per normal but then revs up and then drops back to idle. Is this something unique to Mercury. Also when docking, selecting reverse can be a bit difficult and when I apply throttle to stop the boat and and then moved the throttle back to idle the revs do not drop immediately. So if I need to select forward gear immediately this will not happen until the revs have dropped. This can make docking a bit of a challenge. If anyone has encountered this type of situation and were able to solve it I would be delighted to hear from them.
Thanks in advance.
PS. I came across a recall posted by the USCG for Mercury 25 & 30hp EFI outboards. It is 060097T.
Mercury Marine, 920-929-5040 (Recall 060097T)
2006 25/30 EFI 4-stroke outboard: Throttle may not return to idle after running at an elevated rpm and may not allow operator to shift into neutral. Serial numbers 0R125005-0R145228.
Does anyone know what fix they put in place.
Thanks.
