1972 fiberform cabin cruiser 302 mercruiser 2 bbl 188hp 888. My boat feel sluggish and won't plane. First day i took it out it planed out after 5 mins of trying but now it wont.Trim tabs are set still won't plane out. Rpm gauge says 1800 but idk if it's on the money. The boat came with different 3 different props. Think I should try a different prop? Any advice will help. The boat runs perfect starts everytime no problem. Thanks!

Use the smallest pitch prop you have, but my guess is either the motor is warn out and/or the wrong ratio drive is on it. So after the prop change if not much has changed go thru the list that thumpar posted

The ratio should be 1.5. There was a 1.32 ratio but that was only made for a short period behind the 454 before they figured out it couldn't handle it so I doubt a ratio issue. If it was one of the other ratios it should be overrevving.
