I just purchased my 1st boat with a inboard engine, I always have had outboards. I have a 1989 5.0(305) Mercruiser.
I was just wondering (1).what engine oil this engine would take, (2)should i change the impeller immediatly, and if there are any things to keep an eye on.

Thanx.

How hot is it running? You test it on the water?

The captain is correct cheap insurance to change out the impeller, however did you get any papers on when the last work was done on the boat?

Welcome aboard, Good luck on ya new baby.

The boat is running great. The guy before me did his own service (he is also licenced) The impeller was changed aprox 100 hrs ago. The boat has 244 hrs on it. I have had it out for aprox 3 hours, and everything is good.
