hello all, i just recently purchased a 30hp johnson, model# J30REDE, for $250.00. i got rid of my 1986 mercury 25hp. as usual with a cheap motor, it needs some work. the prop is trashed, the skeg looks like someone cut about 3 inches off, it needs a water pump inlet screen, but other wise is in good shape. not sure if it is in running order, but can get refund if it dont. i have no reason to think that it would not be a very good motor though with a little TLC. my main problem, is that i am not familiar with this brand. everything i have ran in past has either been merc or mariner. can someone give me basic operating instructions? do you pull the shift towards you for forward gear? i just found out about the idle adjustment on the end of the tiller handle. any input on this, where to put it while attempting to get it started? is there a stop button other than the kill switch? is there supposed to be one in end of handle or just a plug? any and all help and info will be greatly appreciated.
