I just bought an old 14 foot Mirrocraft with an old Johnson on the back. All I could find on the motor mounts were the following 2 engravings:
12001 & 188057. Is it possible to ID this motor from these numbers?
Thanks for your help!

Re: 30HP Johnson ID

Unfortunetly, those numbers don't help. Try looking at the welsh plug (a quarter sized silver disk) on the engine block itself. Sometimes these carried the model number as well as the serial number.
The normal location for the model number is on the nameplate, which is somewhere on the transom mount. Sometimes the nameplate is missing though.
Is/was your outboard red? If so that would indicate a '56 Johnson. 30hp's were not made again until 80's I belive. 33hp, 35hp, 28hp yes; 30hp no.

Hope this helps!
