Hello my boat motor is a Mariner 30hp unknown year, the plate on the outboard says MARINER 30E 689 L 404450. The motor runs great but the other night the engine would not turn off when I turned the switch to the off position. The kill switch lanyard does not work either, but it was not functioning prior to this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this or perhaps know where I could get a manual for this outboard? Thanks!

Look in the wiring harness for the yellow wire with a black stripe or black with yellow stripe. One is fuel enrichment the other is engine kill. On engine kill if like mine, the key switch connects this wire to the trigger modules in the CDIs or wherever they are and shorts out the trigger from that stator thus killing the engine. Probable culprit is the ign. switch or ground to the switch, or the wire mentioned open circuited. Look on your ignition modules for which color is which. Pull a connector off at the ign module and measure that wire to battery - with the ign switch off. If not shorted then the ground is not getting to the modules.
