30hp yamaha outboard

Hello looking to find out the year of my yamaha 30 hp outboard. the serial number/name plate reads........6J8 30MSHY WITH A "S" under the 30 then continuing wih 110801 then a "T" under this.
Any help would be great

The Y in 30MSHY would indicate 2000 BUT I don't see a 30 listed for 2000.

What is the country where you are located? There are "World" motors and North American models.

I purchased the motor slightly used in Nipigon Ontario Canada...

the MSHY indicates it is a 2000 model. I did not see the model listed for the U.S. market. I know you got the motor in Canada. Do you live in Canada? If so, go to the nearest Yamaha dealer and ask if it is a Canadian model. If they do not know they or you can contact the head office in Toronto.
