I have a good running 1990 318 fuel injected motor that I want to put in my boat. Does anyone know if a regular intake and carb and distributor will fit this motor or are the fuel inj. blocks different? thanks

I don't think there is any differences with the block. Why not use the fuel injection (no computer)? That would be the best if you could. If it is a auto motor there is some things you will need to do to change to make it a marine motor (do a search here for the list) and you will be all set.

Thanks for the reply, can you run fuel injection without the computer? I thought it and the ignition were computer controlled?

Re: 318 dodge

Without the computer F/I is out. I still wish I could do it. For that matter I really wish I could do a supercharger. That would make my 360 get up and go. <br /> I have a question. Are you replacing a 318 or are you installing a different size motor? Is there many years difference between what's coming out to what is going in. The reason I ask is that Mopar’s motors are a strange breed. They made many changes on how the hooked up to outdrives . Then there is balancing (internal/external). Before I get to deep into it. What do you have now?

Re: 318 dodge

What I have is an experiment. It is an old airboat that I want to install an engine hooked to a direct drive propeller, so hookups, etc. are not an issue. Since it is an experiment I dont want to put a lot into it hence the use of the 318 that I have lying around. If the 318 and drivetrain work I will probably install a built 350 chevy and see how brave I am.
