Im a newbie first off.. i have a 88-89 force on my blu finn bass dominator. The issues are is that i just put new plugs in it, cleaned the carb, and changed the lower unit oil. Ran good before doing this accept i would have to rev it up in nuetral than go into gear otherwise it would die and also just sitting at idol it would die. After doing the maintenance i took it out camping and it ran great on the way out to the last lake in these chain of lakes. I went ti start it back up and it fires and dies than u have to choke it and it does the same...now itll fire and run good when u first start it but after it warms up its very touchy ..i check the plugs and they were wet. Also seemed to run better with the hood off? Fuel issue or spark? Thanks for any help

Re: 35 hp force starting issue

The wet plugs indicate too rich setting on the fuel-air mixture screw. The better idling with the cowl off indicates an exhaust leak recirc'ing. You can try raising the idle setting first and see if that will solve your problem (NOT THE FUEL AIR MIXTURE SCREW!)

If there is an exhaust leak would that be the cause of the rich mixture from cutting out the oxygen? Ill launch it today and see if the idle adjustment helps
