35 hp merc bearings what to buy?

hi , i have a 1985 35 hp 2 stroke merc .had good compression , was knocking so i split casing! lower bearing fell out definatly have to replace lower bearing -bearing retainer- bearing clip .my ? is the reed has alot of slop in it must have been what kept it moving . is there just a bearing for this part or do i have to get whole main reed cage? $$$$ reeds are great ! also some play side to side on wrist pin bearing is that ok ? upper bearing good - will replace seal.these lower bearings had a plastic bearing holder only thing left inner and outer of bearing gone was this original? thanks in advance for ur reply! sunburnt

Your reed cage does not have a bearing in it. If the crank shaft has been hammering the reed cage you will need a new one or a used one that has not been abused. The lower bearing has been subjected to water intrusion, likely the cause of failure. Make sure you replace the lower seals and that they are installed correctly. Take the reed cage off and inspect the grooves that you will find. If the tops of the grooves are mushroomed the crank has come in contact with it and it will no longer seal between the two cyl.
