I recently aquired a good deal on a 90 mercury engine along with the boat. the rig has been sitting for two years with out been run. I know I have to change the gas and batterys, but i was concerned about the oil injection. Are they reliable? has any one else had any problems? I got a really good deal on this rig and I was wondering if I should spend 70 bucks and bring it to the shop to get everything checked out or could I do it my self. If I change the gas and the betterys and fill up the oil reservoir I shouldnt have anything to worry about right?
thanks.

Dustin

You might get her running by squirting some pre-mix oil/gas in the carb throats (take the air box off) but my guess is that after sitting 2 years she will need a carb cleaning/rebuild (gummy deposits) and a new water pump (they deteriorate with age) to run well. And do what jacobe said about the lower unit oil.
