Just purchased a 1983 lowes boat with a 35 hp motor. The motor cowling is different. I removed the band around it and I see a couple bolts in front and rear I think to remove top cowl. How do I lower the bottom cowl to get to bottom plug. the ser. number is 6446102. not even sure what year it is. Also the fuel line at the engine is connected to an aluminum piece that has what looks like pull handles. does it just pull out or is there a release
I purchased the boat from a widow at church. He had removed all seats wood and carpet to rebuild. I got boat, motor and trailer for 450. just finished all wood and carpet and electrical and want to take plugs out, add a few drops of oil and rotate a few turns before starting. My plan is to sell it when finished and enjoy my sweetwater pontoon. Any help would be appreciated

Serial# checks out as an 84, first year for that engine being prop rated. In 83 it was a 40hp, In 1984 Mercury went with a Brown colour scheme on the cowl.
