350 chevrolet replacement

I have a 350 chevrolet in a 1986 wellcraft.The motor is totally salt rusted pistons froze up not worth rebuuilding.My question is can i use a car block and crank.If so what year would i need to look for thanks Wes tanner

You're best off looking for a 4 bolt main truck block and crank of the same vintage if you're going to traipse down that path. ...

Considering that 86 was the transition year, you'll Need to Know which crankshaft seal yours has, 2-piece(older), or the 1-piece(newer).....<br />4-bolt mains are Really Unnessessary in a boat motor.... Only the High Preformance motors use them...... Chevies have a Very Durable Lower End.... MOST Merc.s come from the factory with 2-bolt mains,+ Cast Pistons.....<br />Go to your nearest Machineshop or Junkyard,+ get a motor Exactly like the 1 you have Now.... That's the Easiest Way....
