Re: 350 chevy overheat help

Pull plugs & examine - check oil for presence of water (water in oil will turn oil to chocolate milk color) - compression check - - When was the last time the manifolds & risers were tested or replaced? Water pump?? Thermostat?

Original motor, manifolds & risers?????

If you are lucky this will not be an expensive fix. It may take a fair bit of work.

Don't try to run it until you know what is going on with the motor.

Re: 350 chevy overheat help

I have the same engine. Overheating now too. If the manifolds and risers are old, replace them. Change the thermostat, its only 10 bucks. Pump on the motor old? Change it. Have you replaced your raw water impeller in the outdrive this year? No...replace it. I'm at the change the impeller step now. Eliminate all the variables and do it all. Save yourself the headaches.

Re: 350 chevy overheat help

hi guys i just got back from the boat yard. and this is what i got done so far. start boat, outdrive water pump is good. i took out the thurmostat and run it without. still getting over heat, i notice one risers is pretty hot while the other one is cool to the touch, i took off the one that is running hot and i notice water in one exaust hole on the engine block, the other three is dry. the riser and manifold dosent look too great so i am going to change them. my questions is what could cause the water to settle in one exaust hole??? als how must i treck to see if the circlucating pump is pumping ??
thanks guys for any info

bolo

Re: 350 chevy overheat help

riser/manifold gasket or rusted through/cracked. or head itself leaking. gasket blown, cracked, rusted through. do you still have banging noise?
