Hey all. I picked up a 350sbc with a 4 bolt main that im planning on building to replace the 220 hp 305 in my rinker 192. The motor in the boat now is fine and im in no hurry to get this motor built, i plan on doing a lot of research before making any moves. My goal is to add about 100 hp to the boat so im looking at 320 hp sbc 350 build. A good friend and veteran race engine builder assures me this should be no problem, of course he is trying to convince me to go much higher but im confident 320 will be plenty. Im nota heavy handed driver so imnot overly worried about my alpha. Im just looking for any advice or input from those of you out there withany experiance to share. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if your 305 rating is at prop. A 2brl 305 is 190hp and 4brl is 205hp @ prop. Or is this a newer vortec 305 2brl? Which is about 220hp @ prop.

You can build a basicly stock vortec 350/4brl, and get 280HP @ prop. To get the extra 20 to 40hp, aftermarket heads or modified vortecs with a larger set of valves and lift, along with a little bigger cam.

Be careful working with a performance car builder. The build has to be toward a marine/boat.

The standard older 350 carb marine motor was 260hp. Should be easy to pick up 60hp. Cam, intake, carb and better exhaust should put you there. Be sure to stay marine minded when it comes to the cam. Most major cam suppliers have off the shelf marine cams.
