1) like an idiot, i forgot to winterize my johnson. got a new gas tank, put 3 gallons of gas and 50:1 oil ration like always. everything is connected right.
prime the bulb, pull out the choke and the motor will start up fine, run a couple seconds then suddenly die out. there was a little gas laying under the carb when i took the cowl off...
what could be causing this, i was thinking maybe the needle is gunked up and sticking, causing the carb to flood and die. thinking maybe spraying some carb cleaner in to see if it cleans out some possible varnish...

2) ALSO, while trying to crank it, the ignition stuck and keep trying to crank, took the neg cable off the battery and touched it to the battery and it started trying to crank, what could be causing this?

1) Possible gunk in carb. or Fuel pump weak/failing. Check to see if fuel bowl has plenty of gas or not. Bowl full = carb blockage. Low/ no fuel = Pump or blocked line. Tank vent open? Was engine upright all winter? if so, possible gasket leak at bowl drain bolt.
2) Weak battery or cranking to long. Contacts in starter solenoid stuck together. lightly tap solenoid to try and free up.

yeah, motor was in the up trim position at about 45 degress....i noticed under the lean/rich adjustment there was some gas dripping, not alot, but that's where all the gas was collecting.
think maybe spraying some carb cleaner may help, or would i need to take the carb completely off and clean.

the battery is brand new, i cause maybe the starter is stuck, so i'll try tapping it a few times, i did have the ignition turned for about 5-10 secs, so maybe that's it

You didn't say what year your 35 hp is but here's what I did with my 1980 35 hp when I forgot to drain the gas from the carb one fall. Take the fuel line that runs from the fuel pump to the carb off at the pump. Remove the carb and fuel line from the engine. Remove the drain plug from the bottom of the float chamber and drain the gas. Put the plug back in. Now take a can of carb cleaner and squirt or pour it down the fuel line until it's filled. Wait 15 or 20 minutes then drain the carb. Don't put the plug back in just yet. Hook the fuel line back up to the pump. Now squeeze the primer bulb until you flush out the remaining carb cleaner. I used a coffee can to catch what came out. Put the plug back in, remount the carb, and give the motor a try.

I suppose you could do this with the carb installed but I'm not sure what the carb cleaner would do to the paint on the motor.
