Hi, bare with me on this question. I have a starting battery, deep cycle electronics battery and 2 deep cycle batteries for a 24 volt trolling motor. I was thinking of buying a 36 volt trolling motor. I would like to upgrade my stereo as well and want to run the electronics off of the battery I all ready have in place for the electronics. My question is can I wire in the 3rd battery for the 36 volts and still use one of those 3 deep cycle batteries for my 12 volt circuit? If so will it give me any problems by draining one battery more than the other two? Hope that makes sense. Thanks for any help.

Of course you will drain that one battery quicker than the other two. Look at it as three buckets of water each with a single hole in the bottom and each the same size. Theoretically all three buckets would drain at the same rate. Add another hole to one of the buckets and it will obviously drain quicker than the other two. Will it hurt the battery? Depends on how deeply you discharge it. will it affect motor performance and run time? You betcha! Wire the electronics to the first battery in the striing of three. That would be the one with that has the troller ground cable connected to it. I won't go into why you shouldn't use either of the other two even though it would work.
