So the state of WI, made us put a new on the water gas pump in. The installer works for the state, he spent eight hours on the install, charged $378 an hour labor by the time it was over, the bill came to eight grand!. The pump was a reman that cost 4,900 witch we could see but 378. Bend over and take one for the spanky.

Time for a chat with whatever state agency employs the guy. If that doesn't work, government officials hate negative publicity.

Does the installer work for the state or is he a contractor? If he is under contract he is open to any and all legal action any provider is. I.E. anti-competitive practices, price fixing, etc. My bet, a threat of a suit will bring about a lower bill.

At this point I don't know, These are the replies I was hoping to get so we can discuss this tomorrow. holy crap we even carried the pump down the hill and set it in place. All he did was put in four lag bolt's hooked up gas line and power.

that would probably fall under the price gouging laws. If you could somehow get a bid for the same work for a much cheaper price, that would help your case a lot or an hourly rate quoted by a company that does the same type of work. That bill would be hard to swallow for sure.

Wow that's painful. I would certainly look into that but don't know what if any recourse you actually have. Good luck with whatever you find.

If that included expenses that's not bad for the installation of commerical equiptment. Our service fees are at least that plus travel and expenses. When all is said and done your typically looking at $2,500-$3,000 per man day

Was it just one man not using any heavy equipment? If so that seems a little like extortion.
