Yes that is where I found all my other info. The 2 holes that are in the 1st color picture ubder the 3 cyl bullitin. The 2 holes I am refering to are the ones on the aluminum pedistal just above the harness that runs up to the timing base and rectifier.

Tashasdaddy is going to host the pic for me. Its pretty self explanatory. But the holes in the yellow circle are the ones I am talking about.

Seems like you're going to have to remove an awful lot of material going in there. You'll also have to thread those holes to fit a nipple. They may be kind of large for that. Also, what mounts up there? Once you drill through and tap that hole, whatever use it had is now gone.

Those are the only downsides I can really see.

Just don't follow the service bulletin in the above link, unless your motor is one of the ones detailed in it. If your 3 cylinder is one of the older motors, the location specified will not put you into a water passage.

I just put a tell tale in my 1972 Johnson 65hp. I installed it in the head, as was done in one of the examples in the linked page. As in the example shown, I used a bronze nipple, but I think I am going to take to advice of a few folks and go to a a stock OMC plastic nipple.

Here's how I did mine:

Done works great. But i have run the motor at idle for about 30 min and I can still lay my hand on the head and its not ever warm? Is that bad. I even pinch off the **** hose and let it run and it still didnt get hot.

The tell-tale won't help with that, the powerhead temperature is controlled by the thermostat.

Right I piched off ther telltale to see if it was not allowing the water to get warm enough to open the tstat. I did install a new Tstat seeing that the old one was original.
