I will be sealing a few transducer holes with 5200, nut, bolt and washers through aluminum hull. My question is, once I tighten the coated bolts, nuts and washers, can I take a razor blade to clean up the excess 5200 around the washers or will that ruin the seal? I am hoping I can clean it up a little and the seal behind the washer wil still be in tact.

Thanks for any responses.

Clean up the excess 5200 with some paint thinner and paper towels before it cures. I wouldn't worry about ruining the seal, you are just wiping off the excess that squeezed out.

I use paint thinner to wipe an excess off. Be careful. The stuff gets everywhere and does not like to come off your hands.
