I bought 3m rubbing compound nufinish and wax for my boat, because the paint was faded it brought the color back. I was wondering if this would work for a car with faded paint.

Sarcasm is not needed don't comment if you don't have any useful info

Re: 3m products

Be VERY VERY careful. The 3M Marine products are MUCH harsher and more abrasive then a car product. I had looked into the same thing years ago and decidied to stay with auto products for the cars and truck and if it was labeled Marine it stayed for the boat.

The Nufinish and wax should be no problem. The rubbing compound, as Bob_VT stated, is much more harsh and abrasive than auto rubbing compound. The clearcoat on a car or truck is nothing compared to the gelcoat on a boat.

I can understand your feelings about sarcasm; how about a little fasciciousness?... Just kidding... Seriously, though, The cutting sarcasm around here is generally reserved for those whom either deserve it, or take it as well as they dish it out with respect to certain or all other members. We kid around a lot on this forum. LippCJ7 and I go at it all the time. He's my Bud, and I wouldn't want it any other way. We mess with each other like we've known each other all our lives.

You asked a perfectly reasonable question... No reason to be concerned with sarcasm. You'll find that this forum is full of good natured, and very knowledgable boaters who are eager to help. Some of us, myself included, see just about anything as an oppertunity for a good time. If any member says something your not sure how to take, simply reply with a question about the intent. If you keep your inquiry good natured, you'll get a good natured response. The way I see is, the worst that can happen is "Ooh, now don't I feel silly..."

For future reference, if I say something, and you're not sure how to take it... Take it the good way... But don't hesitate to question me about anything I say.
