I am thinking about removing the pin stripes on my boat. I have heard alot of talk about the 3m wheel. So I went to the local Lowes stores today to see what this thing is and I am not sure I was looking at the right tool. It was located next to the heating guns and the pad (on what I think is the 3m wheel) is like a solid rock grinding spung. Am I looking at the right tool? If so,do they make a softer pad?

I have a hard time thinking about myself useing this on my boat. It looks as if it would tear straight thru the hull.
If you have a 3m wheel, please post a pic of it.

Yeah they're like an extra firm pencil eraser on a mandril. A body shop supply house is usually the best source for these.

Yes they work wonders. I used one to remove the 4" stripes on the old 18' Thundercraft. It took about a half hour per side, and no burning on the glass. Go to an auto body shop supply store as stated earlier

Re: 3m wheel

The thing you want does not look like a hard rubber disk..

You want the one that has multiple thin pancake layers on it..

5/8" arbor for multi speed option

YD.

PS. sorry dont have a link to it..

The one GARYH NC linked to will work just fine. I think that is the later design than the ones with thin layers of material.
