I,m in the middle of changing the block in my 86 Four Winns to a 99 vortec..The 99 calls for an electric fuel pump so I purchased all brackets and parts to install same..
Is there a drawing or picture showing everything installed ?

Also should I install it before or after the engine is in the boat ? ?

Thanks so very much for the help.....

Re: 4.3 86 to 99 block change.

hi there,
if it were only that simple.i was faced with this issue last year.the first problem you will run into is,the crankshaft is different,so the flywheel wont fit, which leads to the coupler not fitting.initial thought was well i could just have a machine shop buddy modify them, but then realized if i went to that trouble the starter wouldnt meet the flywheel right.then found the shape of oil pan is just enough different that it wouldnt work in my bilge area.the long and short of this is that when chevy changed block designs in 87,it didnt look like much, but a LOTof little things are different enough that getting the two different generations to work is a MAJOR PAIN,to a no can do.

good luck with it
