Engine is a 2004 4.3 Alpha I Gen II. The original was also a 4.3, but had a cracked head and replaced 2-3 years ago with a Repower 4bbl 4.3 engine.
drive SN: 0L102679 1.63R is stamped in, but 1.81R is hand written next to it.
Engine S/N: 90004747

I just purchased a Sierra 18-5897 sensor. Looked up the part and this seemed like the obvious choice. The new one has "SI" and "66" stamped on it. The previous one has "03H" and "89". Looks similar... but the ohms at room temp are only ~400 and I was expecting 600-800. Did I get the wrong one?

Thanks!

Hi there, well since you didn't buy an OEM part, i'd say you got the wrong one.:D Just kidding.:)

Your OEM part number would be 806490T and that number does crossover to the sierra marine number 18-5897 so it is the correct one.

I personally would of rather seen you buy the Mallory sensor. That way it would of been easier for you to install and possible saved you the time and money of having to find or buy some thread sealant if you didn't already have it on hand.

Both the OEM and the Mallory already come with the better red sealant applied to the sender so all you have to do is install it.
