4.3 alpha one sticking coming out of reverse

its like this!<br />i chewed up my mooring rope the other day, i have never done this before and thought rats! i have taken my boat out of reverse a couple of seconds earlier.<br />it seems that when i shift out of reverse only that it stays in gear for a few seconds too long unless i move the shifter quickly.<br />has anyone any ideas?

Well,<br />The Alpha Outdrive Must be Shifted Briskly ...... ALL the Time .......<br />It's the Nature of the Beast.......<br /><br />Sounds Quite Normal to me..........<br /><br />If it becomes a Real Issue,<br />Shorten the Lower Cable by 1/2 turn or so........

Used to have a Merc 170 that did that, only acted up in reverse. Check the adjustment on your shift kill switch. Momentarily kills the engine to let you pull it out of gear.
