4.3 cooling question

I have a 4.3 and the starboard riser is noticably warmer(hot) than the port side. They're new manifolds , I took off the thermostat housing to inspect , it was pretty clear, although running water into to the feed inlet with the larger hose nipple blocked and with the larger thermostat opening blocked I did see a different flow port and starboard output (therm housing).
During operation in water the hose's wind up having two different temps.
QUESTION is it normal for the starboard side to run hotter ?? the engine apears to be the same temp both sides , to feel . Murray

While they will always be slightly different, one shouldn't be hot and the other not. You say the manifolds are new - what about the risers? They're the most likely to plug up with scale. If they're not new, you should buy new gaskets, pull them and inspect them...

I did buy the complete set last season , But I did take off the riser to inspect and replace the gasket, I had the same result ,, I'm wondering if the thermostat housing could be just letting more water pass to the port side ,,,,,

Absolutely - gravity can do it,too. That would be normal. On mine it's the starboard side that gets more, but only on the hose. Underway they're indistinguishable. . What we don't know is what you mean by hot. If one of your risers is getting hot to the point that you can't grab it and hold on to it (underway - not 'under hose') somethings not right. If the rises and manis are new, and you can hold on to both of them after operating on the water you should be fine. Watch for an IR thermometer sale and pick one up...they're handy for this kind of stuff...
