I have a 1998 4.3 gl volvo that bogs while accelerating. I have replaced all ignition parts with the correct boat parts for the engine number. I have checked the timing and it is advancing like it should. Fuel pressure is good. It runs a little rough on idle and bogs while trying to accelerate. Seems like spiting a slight mist of fuel back through the carb. Removed both valve covers and no broken valve train components. Turned engine over by hand and seems like the valves are open and closing. Compression check was good.
Any ideas or help would be great.

What caused you to go straight for ignition parts first? What's the condition of the carb?

Pull the flame arrestor and pump the throttle once with the engine OFF - is there a nice solid stream of fuel, a dribble of fuel, or just a "slight mist"? Have you pulled the plugs and inspected them - soot or light brown? Has the carb ever been rebuilt?

Confirm your fuel delivery system first then work through ignition.

Did all of that. Everything there checked out fine.

Blown power valve or bad accelerator pump then
