Hey every one it’s been a long time sense I’ve posted here. I’m having problems with my carb on a 4.3 Mercruiser engine there’s a little spout at the top of the carb that gas flows out of any ideas why will post a pic of the spout I’m talking about.

Please be nice im used to fuel injection and not up to date on carbs lol

Yup, time to rebuild the carb. Right place to start. Any issue with fuel pump would be easier to answer with a serial number and some history on the motor, how it has been running, and repairs, maintenance done recently.

Honestly I don’t know much about the boat I just bought it. We started it up before I payed for it but you could see/smell it’s running ritch I bought a rebuild kit for it just waiting for it to come in the mail

What I was assuming is that maybe the flot is sticking so something along those lines

nothing has been done to it as far as I know.

When it started up it sounded good and seemed to run well other then flooding out lol

cant help with your question but I have the same motor and what looks to be the same carb. I rebuilt mine and the boat runs the best it ever has. First ever carb rebuild. Pretty easy. THeres a filter under the large nut the gas line hooks up to. It gets clogged from time to time and needs to be rinsed out..good luck

+1 vote for carb rebuild. They're not that bad. Mercarbs are very simple. Check out the Youtube videos and have a ball. I was a fuel injection guy too, but a Mercarb is very easy to work on and diagnose. Pay attention to detail and good luck. Use some lithium or similar grease on the gaskets so you can remove the top a few times to fine-tune. If you get the float height and drop right, you pretty much won't even have to mess with it though.
