i have a 4.3 mercrusier, while cruising at about 3/4 throttle the motor acts like it is out of fuel, it kinda dies down a little but it dont die all i can do is idle it. I had this problem before and i cleaned the carb and changed the fuel filter. that fixed it for about 1-2 months then while camping it rained pretty hard and i had the problem again, it would run fine and die down while crusing.
any ideas??? water in fuel?

I had the same issue and it was a clogged fuel tank vent. I would check that. When you say fuel filter I am guessing you mean fuel/water separator. Did you dump the contents into a jar and check for water separation?

Re: 4.3 mercruiser hesitating

could be water in the fuel

as suggested, pour the contents of the separator into a glass jar and inspect

if there is water, check the o-ring on the fuel fill cap - missing or damaged

Ayuh,... You should most definitely install a cannister filter... The missin' oring is a suspect as well...
You might need to rebuild the carb again if the water/ crud got through...
