4.3 mercruiser making oil

I have a 1988 Chapparal with a 4.3MC alpha1.
indications are(may or may not be related) oil pressure runs about 60 at idle and 80+ above idle. about every 3-4 hrs the oil level creeps up about a qt on the dipstick. (no water or bubbles) most likely fuel. there is a slight fuel oder to the oil.
I was thinking a fuel pump diaphram but it runs great.
any thoughts?

Ruptured diaphram is a good possibility.

that would be my first thing to change or repair *fuel pump*

check the transparent tube funning from the fuel pump to the carb bowl.
If anything is in there, replace the pump, and change the oil.

Most certainly fuel pump-- same thing happened to me. Ran great until one day it died all together. I went to start it in the driveway before going out and nothing. Just make sure you use a marine fuel pump and not automotive.
