Hey guys boat was running good Older mercruiser 4.3 alpha 1 outdrive, I went threw a shallow channel and think I sucked up some mud and plugged the water intake somewhere before the thermostat. I got out the channel and gave it some gas, it was smoking and sounding funny then it died with some smoke and popping noises. After it cooled down and I noticed the water tubes were all empty I tired to start it again but it wouldn’t keep running. Anyone got a check list to run threw to make sure she’s isn’t fried... I have compression gauge I haven’t checked just nervous she’s gunna be a total loss. Any ideas or encouraging comments would be great before I dig into this.

and the temp gauge read...............................
1 remove drive and replace water pump ,try flushing with a hose in the water inlet
2 check engine oil for contamination (water is a sign of crack or head gasket)
3 Check all rubber components in the exaust system

Appreciate it.. ill have to look into exhaust components too I do suppose. The temp gauge I think is grounded wrong it reads max on the gauge so seems I should fix that also. My worry was fried pistons or valves even.
