4.3 Mercrusier Serial number help

Well back again and learning with every new project..

Ok I got a different block from a buddy with a scored cylinder, finger nail doesn't catch I think I can hone it out.

I will know more once I open it up and see what it looks like.

My question is the serial number. I have looked through my mercruiser manual number 18.

I can't locate the model or the year. My manual starts OF000615-OF800000 4.3L then 4.3lx OF001220-OF800000. Please explain how to read and understand?

My Serial number F414420.....

Hard to order parts when I have no idea what iam dealing with.

The 0F414420 is for a 1995 4.3L with Thunderbolt IV ignition, with an Alpha outdrive.

My manual covers 0F000615-0F800000 for 4.3L and for 4.3LX, 0F001220-0F800000.

My Serial number 0F414420.....

Looks to me like you have the right manual... You are bang in the middle of those ranges... What's the problem?

As stated by Don, you have a 4.3L. That means a 2 bbl carb... (The only difference between the 'L' and the 'LX')

Thanks so the real difference is the 2 bbl or 4 bbl.

My problem was I am in the middle of both the ranges. But if the only difference would be 2 or 4 then I got it... That's what I didn't understand.
