4.3 tks wiring trouble????

Hello. I have a 2010 4.3 tks. I started the boat first time this year and everything seemed ok until it died. Now the key switch has no function at all. I checked the switch it is ok, but it has no power to it now. I checked the 50a breaker at the engine and what looks to be a fuse near the starter both are ok and have 12v in and out of them. I then checked all battery connections on both ends. The wire that feeds the key switch enters a cable then i think it connects at a "barrel" type connector at the engine. If anyone has a diagram or can tell me what powers this wire it may point me in the right direction. Thanks for any help.

Should be a 20A fuse near the ignition switch in the red/purple wire.

Thanks Don. At my ignition switch i have a solid purple, solid red, and yellow with red tracer. None have fuses. The only fuses under the dash are the accessory fuses and two ten amp fuses in the harness. All of these are good.

Sounds like you have boat builder wiring, not Mercruiser wiring. You just have to trace back from the igntion switch to the engine with a meter or test light and find out where you loose power.

Ok was afraid of that,this is in a Tahoe boat. In that harness after the barrel connector on the engine side, what actually feeds the ignition switch? Thanks for all your help.

Have no clue. Depends on how the 2010 Tahoes were wired. You need a wiring diagram from Tahoe or just start tracing from the engine circuit breaker to the harness connector and see how the harness colors change. Can't even help you with engine harness on 2010. No info on anything newer than 09.

Ok sounds like some good old troubleshooting is needed. This rig is under warranty but the dealer in this area is not very skilled. Thanks again for your help.

just an update in case it may help someone else. found a 15a fuse near the rear of the intake that was blown. repalced it now everything is working ok.
