I was wondering that if my 4.3 takes a nose dive, is it wort replacing with a 5.7? What is involved?

The 4.3 is the same as the 5.7, just minus 2 pots. :D All you'd have to change is the position of the blocks in the boat that accept the engine mounts and the exhaust manifolds. Too easy!

Chris...........

Of course, you'll need a steeper prop if you don't change the drive. The 4.3 drive will work fine on a 5.7, but the 5.7s come with a different ratio drive. Easily compensated with an appropriate prop. If you go with just a longblock, about all you'd need is a different distributor cap and rotor plus two more plug wires, intake and exhaust manifolds, and different jetting in the carb. There's also a different Thunderbolt IV module if that's the ignition system you have. You'll probably need a few different hoses, too. Most everything else should swap over. If you have a throttle body EFI, then we're talking new MEFI computer as well...tack on another $1200 or so.

Can it be done? Most likely. But not cheaply. But then again, what in boating is cheap anymore?

Upper gear set in the upper of the lower unit is different. Prop and the engine.
