Hopefully this is in the right area.

Hello long time lurker first time poster. Ive searched and searched and cannot quite find what im looking for. But i scored a 2008 mercruiser 5.7 fuel injected complete motor for 400 dollars very low hours. Im wanting to put it in my 2000 stingray 200ls. I understsnd what needs to be done to get it in a mounted and regeared and reproped. But my question is, is it even possible to run a efi motor in a non efi boat? Or is thid gonna be a huge long process sorceing parts and crazy wireing. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Nope, not really much for adapting from carbed to Efi,....

The motor carries it's own harness that oughta just plug in,....

Do you have the complete motor with computer? For the drive it will probably be cheaper to buy the upper by SEI than regearing. The prop that you have may even work with the right gear ratio.

Yes i have the complete motor with everything. I called a local shop and found a used unit out ifna v8 boat for 500. Thinking maybe going that route and using my 21p prop

The boat it's out of is completely irrelevant. As long as all of the engine is there, it's a straight swap. Unlike cars, where a lot of the engine management system is buried up under the dash, a boat engine is completely self-contained. There is no such thing as a V8 boat. It's a boat that can have a V8 engine installed. That very same hull could also have a V6 installed, and either engine could be Carb or EFI without anything being done to the boat.... Just look at my boat, started life with an in-line 6, then had a carbed V6, now has a MPI V6. All those changes without anything being done to the boat....

HTH,

Chris.......
