Hi, I am brand new to this BBS, and have searched the info, but have not found any specifics to my particular question. Here goes: I have a MerCruiser 4.3 LX Gen + V6 (1997) engine turning an Alpha 1 outdrive and have recently encountered the dreaded Exhaust manifold failure. Fortunately, I caught it before any real damage occurred, but now am faced with replacing the exhaust manifolds. I expected to have to shell out some significant $$ but never imagined it would be like this. My IO experience has been limited to V8's and two piece manifolds. Although skeptical about the one-piece manifolds when I bought it, the dealer reassured me they were much better. I don't really believe this is the case now since the only source is OEM MerCruiser, and converting over to two piece (more abundant, ceramic coated for longer life) is very expensive. It is hard for me to simply shell out the cash for the OEM one-piece when they are poor design, and will rust back out within a few (4-5) years in the salt water environment here on the Atlantic ICW. I am considering using Salt-Away as I have heard the product works well and can extend the life of cast iron manifolds in saltwater environment. Any one else encounter this same issue? What is the best way to go? Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks and sorry if I overlooked anything.<br />Jeff
