Hi guys Im new here or any foroom, anyway I got a question I bought a set of manifolds for my 4.3 volvo penta and I had them for 4 years ,I take them off every year and a half and clean them and inspect them and usually they look really good so I put them back on,now a year ago I replace the motor and run it till now,I was working on the steaming rack the start leaking and I had to remove manifolds to access the ram and I notice the manifolds were rusting really bad on the exhaust side water side looks good but exhaust side where it shouldn’t be no water in, were really rusted inside and saw thing metal and now I’m going to replace them, can anyone tell me what’s going on why there rusting in the exhaust side, maybe a leak inside intake manifolds or something, the exhaust manifolds gaskets were not leaking ,I mention intake manifolds cause I put the intake manifolds from the other motor on the new one,any explanation on why there rusting in the exhaust side will be appreciated thank u guys and I hope I did this right lol 😂

first, welcome aboard

second, no need to play with the font. we all could see it fine before you started playing with the font.

third, slow down, do you have pics?

water on the exhaust passage of the manifolds comes from a few places:
  • leaking manifold to riser joint
  • low riser to SWL height
  • cracked manifold or riser.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... Like Scott says, there several ways that could be the cause, but the intake manifold ain't one of 'em,....
