Help'

I have a 1998 Trophy 2052 With a 4.3L 190 HP. Carborated engine with a closed cooling system.

The alarm will sound intermintantly when at cruising speeds. The problem is in the coolant temp part of the alarm as it will continue when the oil pressure and or oil resivour switches are unpluged. It will not happen if the temp sensor is unpluged. I replaced the temp sensor and the coolant thermistat the engine ran at about 175 before and at about 160 after the thermistat was replaced all of this has had no effect on the problem. The boat starts and runs well but dose smoke black some when cold and will diesel if I do not let it idol for about 5 minuets before shuting it down. The Temp sensor is wired to the ICM module and the alarm is also so I am asuming that the module tells the alarm when to sound? But replacing the module on spec is a pricy thing to do. Any suggestions?

Re: 4.3L Alarms

Check all the wiring in the alarm circuits for shorts to ground.

Re: 4.3L Alarms

Had the exact same problem with a 4.3 Volvo Carburated last year. The boat had less than 100 hours, and all it was a bad ground connection. To bad we pulled it 2 hours to the dealer each way to have them tighten the ground and it went away.

Belchy
