As part of an engine replacement for my 1990 OMC cobra it was necessary to swap in an electric fuel pump as the replacement block did not have a cutout for the mechanical pump. When wiring I included a relay and oil pressure safety switch.
The problem I'm encountering is that the engine will run for about 30 seconds then starts to stumble and will finally cut out due to lack of fuel. If I pump the throttle then turn the key she'll start right back up, run for several seconds then again stumble and finally cut out due to lack of fuel. When she runs I listen closely to the fuel pump and can hear that it cuts out.
Any thoughts as to what is causing the pump to shut off? What tests can I perform to track this down?
