4.3L Mercarb 2 barrel HESITATION

Sorry if this is a repeated issue but I haven't figured out how to search previous topics.

Purchased a used 2011 Tahoe w/4.3L TKS/Mercarb 2 barrel carburetor. Engine hesitates (1 sec stall but doesn't die) when going from idle to WOT to pull up skier. No hesitation with gradual acceleration or sudden acceleration above 1700? rpm.

Trust this is a common problem and that I can get some advice before I rebuild the carburetor. Thanks for your time and input.

Sounds like the accelerater pump (inside the carb) isn't working properly. Get the carb stripped and clean and rebuilt...

Jogordo, I do not know you solved your problem or not but you describe pretty closely what my 3.0TKS was doing. My base timing was out, I set it correctly and hesitation went away. Good luck.

When anyone has "the same problem" we ask you to not hijack another thread, but to start your own new thread for various reasons. Primarily for the reason we see here (and I'm probably as much to blame in this case as anyone), people get sidetracked and off the OP's original problem. Also, you may be experiencing similar symptoms, but the cause can be very different... And even in this case here, the OP has a V6, subsequent "I have the same problem" posters have completely different engines.... :facepalm:

So, I will DELETE hijackers and the responses... If you were a subsequent "I have the same problem" poster please, start your own thread....

if its off idle its the idle transfer slots. Could be float level, fuel pressure issue, fuel grade, timing (unlikely unless you messed with it).. or as chris said accelerator pump shot - might as well rebuild the carb, not hard to do and you might find the source of your issue..
