4.3L Mercruiser (Carburated) in a 190 Searay Sundeck

I am looking at this boat and the only thing that makes it not the "perfect boat" for us is the power plant. Not only is it carburated, but is the 6 cylinder versus the 5.0L I would like. How do you think this boat would perform in the water?<br /><br />I have a hard time finding Sundecks used in our area - that is the only reason I am looking seriously at this one. Other than that, it is in perfect condition.

If you are thinking repower...it would be foolish to go with a 5 liter when a 5.7 is the same block....think about it.<br />In all honesty, the cost of a repower in a boat you are considering is really a deal breaker, even considering the $$$ you might get out of the old pulled engine.

I don't think I would repower. I guess the question I am asking is a couple hundred of horses enough to wakeboard (my son) with 4 adults and 2 children in the boat. I will pass on the boat and look for another if it is severly underpowered.

HP issues aside, that's not much boat for 4 adults and 2 kids.....

Hey Tx,<br /><br />You'll be fine with that boat, but take it out for a spin just to be sure. I have 20' Excel with the Volvo Penta 4.3L V6 2 bbl carb. and I pulled up 2 men, both on slalom skis, and with 3 women plus me in the boat. Sure, they had to work a bit to get up, but they did get up and skied. <br /><br />You need to go over 30 mph to slalom and 15 mph - 20 mph for a wakeboard. So no worries, mate. Buy it if you like it.
