Good afternoon!
I am new to this forum but i am in need of some help. I bought a 1996 maxum sr2 bowrider last night and have just 1 problem. The prop that is currently on the motor is this 5 bladed prop, i dont have any specs on it right now but I took it out last night and realized that this is a terrible propeller for this motor. If you are idling slow and then gun it, the rpms of the motor spins up and you can hear the prop spinning fast, sounds like its cavitating. Once on plane, you have to keep the motor trim all the way down... which causes you to have a bad ride in the boat, bouncing across the water. Once I trim up the slightest bit it sounds like it starts cavatating again. Soooo my question is what propeller would be ideal for this boat? 3 blade or 4? and what pitch and all that other good stuff. Any info would be helpful and I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

What do you want to do with the boat, go fast or yank a 300LB guy out on a wakeboard. If you want tons of holeshot go with a 4 blade 18P, I just picked up an apollo SS for around 260 bucks on this forum. Great prop and I have the same motor and sized boat as you. If you want speed go with a 21P SS prop. You would think the 19P would be just right but i tried that size and it sucked at both speed and holeshot. With the 21P my boat would top out at around 52 MPH GPS. Do you have the 2 or 4 barrel?

I have the 2001 version of your boat. I put a 4 blade 20" Apollo on mine last year and don't regret it at all. As stated, its $260 here on iboats.

Pletty of grunt to pull 250 lb skiers and wake boarders right up.

Last year I did the calculations and I don't have the numbers any more but when I calculated it, the tach showed the engine was right at max RPM (4800) and the GPS showed 47 MPH which worked out to be very low prop slip, almost too low to be believed so I always assume my tach is slightly off.

No matter what, well worth the $250 for me so far.
