Sounds like a internal carburetor problem.

Chancey, Is it possible the choke is stuck closed?

If that is not it, I suspect you have an ignition component that is sensitive to heat and causes weak or mistimed spark, when it gets hot!

Ironically, If you can get it to not run at all, it will be easy to determine if it is an ignition problem.

After it begins to sputter does it die, and then wont restart. If it wont restart, check to see if it is getting spark. If it gets a good spark, then it is a fuel issue.

Ken

You didn't mention the manufacturer or year.

It definitely sounds heat related. When was the last time you replaced plugs, plug wires, points, condensor, rotor, distributor cap? If you have electronic ignition, you might look at the fuel pump.
