I have tried the forum search feature to no avail, so here I go. I have a 99 25hp rope start. it appears that coming off the stator is a 3 wire bundle of yellow/blue, yellow/purple, and yellow wires. according to the schematic in the manual this is a 4 amp accessory circuit. how do I verify that this is getting power? I am looking for power solutions on a 16 foot jon boat. I realize it isn't enough to charge a trolling motor battery, but I am looking at trying to run a couple of small nav lights and a fish finder. any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

So connect the accessories to the troller battery. Unless there is a rectifier in that circuit your locator will likely go to electronics heaven. Lights don't care.

My original thought was to invest in two good batteries and run them parallel to double my capacity. Then charge them before each adventure and run everything as needed. I was just trying to take advantage if electrical power that was there but it seems like your thought is the easiest way to do it. Thanks for the response.

You charge batteries immediately after each use - not just before the next use. Never leave a battery in a discharged state.
