Looking for the model info for a seemingly mid-80's model 4 cylinder merc outboard. the serial number is 1717604.

Any help would be appreciated and will get me closer to getting it running.

Re: 4-cyl merc id

the diagrams don't match up. the rig's no more than 90 hp, and that's a stretch. it's an older model than the diagrams suggest, without the jet.

super-thunderbolt block with a serial number of 831-2414.

this came out before easy tilt and is too small for power trim.

Re: 4-cyl merc id

the first serial number is the one put on the tilt bar by mercury. the actual serial number of the engine. the second is the one put on by the manufacturer of the block. i assumed it may have been of some help.

these diagrams are dead on. the cowling and carburetor setup and everything are exact. what year and model does it put the engine at?

thanks
